Performance
The
2012 Jeep Wrangler now sports a new 3.8L Pentastar V6 engine that pumps out a
hefty 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Drivers have the option of either pairing
this engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission or, for those who want
ultimate control, a 6-speed manual (standard). One large improvement is that the
2012 Wrangler now powers its way to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds, which is three
seconds faster than the 2011. The 2012 also gets a Next Generation Dana 30 Solid
Front Axle and a Next Generation Dana 44 Heavy Duty Rear Axle that adds a
stiffer and stronger housing and larger pinion bearings to handle added torque
requirements. These additions make the 2012 Jeep Wrangler more solid than the
rocks you'll be climbing up. All models get an EPA-estimated MPG of 15 city/19
hwy.
Standard Options and Features
The 2012
Wrangler comes in a variety of trims to fit every Jeep enthusiast's lifestyle
and budget: Rubicon, Sahara, Sport 4x4 and Sport S 4x4. Just because the
Wrangler's exterior is built for the rough and tumble of off-road driving
doesn't mean the interior can't provide a luxury experience. The
Tectonic/Wallace II cloth seating comes in either dark saddle or black,
providing the comfort you expect. Two-tone leather-trimmed seats are available
on the Sahara and Rubicon trims (and bundled with heated front seats). The
leather-wrapped steering wheel with speed controls is also standard on all
trims, and available on the Sport. For the off-road enthusiast, the wash-out
interior with drain plugs allow you to easily remove the carpets and remove all
the grit and grime from the trails.
The standard Uconnect system helps
you navigate, stay in touch, or find the perfect song for the moment quickly and
easily. With GPS, satellite radio, hands-free calling, wireless Web access from
Mopar, and a port for your iPod, you'll be able to do everything you do at home
while you're on the road or on the side of a mountain. Uconnect is standard on
all models with a CD/MP3 Audio System and Auxiliary Input Jack. An upgraded
Media Center adds Garmin Navigation with a 6.5" Touchscreen and a 40GB Hard
Drive, capable of holding 6,700 songs. For those who love music, the available
premium Infinity sound system provides six speakers with 368 watts of clean,
powerful sound. | |
Safety
The
2012 Jeep Wrangler is as safe as it is fun to drive ? very. For example, the
sport bar uses high-strength steel and is integrated into the B-Pillar that runs
into the floor. This improves side-impact performance, vehicle stiffness,
torsional rigidity and control at highway speeds. Additional features include
Advanced multistage front airbags, side supplemental airbags, body-on-frame
construction, energy-absorbing steering wheel and column, an off-road tested
emergency brake system and much more. | |
