Performance
Available
with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, the 2012 Dodge Durango comes with a brawny
290-hp, 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine standard and has an available 360-hp, Hemi
5.7-liter V8 engine, which comes with the Multiple Displacement System (MDS) for
better fuel economy. The R/T trim actually gets the 5.7L Hemi off the assembly.
In addition to new engines, the Durango also gets a new 5-speed automatic
transmission paired with the 3.6L V6 and a 6-speed automatic transmission for
the 5.7L V8. Both the 2WD and 4WD V6 Pentastar engine get an EPA-estimated 16
city/23 hwy, while the V8 Hemi version gets 13 city/20
hwy. | |

The Durango is offered in five models for
2012- Express, Heat, Crew, R/T, and Citadel. Standard features on the SXT
include 18" aluminum wheels, fog lamps, 7-passenger cloth seating, 60/40
fold-and-tumble second-row seats, removable/rechargeable flashlight and

the 2012 Durango sports a tri-zone temperature control system so that each row

such upgraded convenient features as a media center with 6.6" touch screen with
30GB hard drive, a ParkView rear back up camera with ParkSense rear park assist
system and a remote keyless entry system with remote start. The R/T and Citadel

Safety
The
Durango is as safe as it is fun to drive. However, with the capability of
seating seven people, it's nice to know that the Durango comes with such
standard safety features include electronic stability control, six airbags, and
active head restraints. It also has such features as trailer-sway control,
hill-start assist and fog lamps to assist drivers in different scenarios. A host
of accident-avoidance features are optional, including adaptive cruise control,
blind spot monitoring, a forward collision warning and rear cross-path
detection, which warns drivers when an object is entering their path when the
vehicle is in reverse.
